Roman emperor Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus - better known as Caligula - was said to have made his horse a consul, proclaimed himself a living God and indulged in scandalous orgies. Mary Beard attempts to peel away some of the myths surrounding him, sifting through surviving evidence to paint a portrait of the real Caligula.
